The butterfly and the banana skin
The banana skin lay slap blast in the street. Tommy a jail superintendent, riding his bicycle on his way once again from the shops. Where he had purchased 3 tins of natural peas and a solidified turkey, the prisoners were having it for a little treat, he didn't spot it in time. The banana skin was too slippy he hit the ground delicately alongside the peas lamentably the turkey hit a stone, and brought off not far off at extraordinary speed. Cycle one corner and round the following, it in the long run came to a standstill in the wake of causing à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½6,500 pounds worth of harm to vehicles back along its intensive lesson course. Jennifer went to her entryway a look of awe crossed her face, how could a solidified turkey cause so much harm she thought to her self. She looked ten yards back up the street at her 1964 passage horse convertible, which currently required another back tire. Lamentably the main spot she new about around where one of these uncommon things could be procured was a spot called huge bobby's colt royal residence, which would before long be closed. She bounced in her subsequent vehicle, a blurred mint green Chevy roadster, turned around out of the drive and off she went. Tommy at this point had arrived at the base of the street and was presently recovering his turkey from somewhere in the range of ones front nursery. Jennifer was presently going at a speed unsuitable for the kind of street she was driving on. Poor Karen a twenty something year old mixed drink server from Moca-Choca-Rinos around the bend didn't see the vehicle that hit her. An observer weave Jones who saw the occurrence from his home over the road stated, ââ¬Å"The vehicle was American, and light green in shading however I didn't get a nearby lookâ⬠. Karen's supervisor Steve as he is known was presently down a server, and it was party time in a short time. Toward the night's end his all out misfortune was assessed at à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½689. In the first part of the day there was a thump at the entryway, it was the bank. He required à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½4556 yet he just had à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½4256 he had 2 days to think of the money before he was announced bankrupt. He had no way out he realized what must be finished. The following morning the fire fighter were scratching through the consumed wood attempting to discover the wellspring of the fire. Steve was there on the telephone to the insurance agency he was guaranteeing à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½20,000 the case was up in court in 4 hours time. It flew by and before he knew it he was sitting in the court before judge Malone. He had clarified his case and the adjudicator was going to give him the cash when the ways to the court opened. A fire fighters strolled in with a container of petroleum in his grasp and huge grin all over. Frederick Clegg â⬠A Study in Psychopathy Essay Essays Frederick Clegg â⬠A Study in Psychopathy Essay Paper Frederick Clegg â⬠A Study in Psychopathy Essay Paper All through the entire book Frederick makes the most of his singularity which happened because of his unnatural childhood. Fredericks was guided through life by his uncle whom he unfeignedly venerated and who has become his strict life pioneer. Frederick significantly endured after his expire and didnââ¬â¢t figure out how to build such solid connections that he used to hold before. Frederick has numerous mental disadvantages. Since his adolescence. he has been let down and surrendered a few times: My male parent was killed drive. I was two. â⬠¦ He was rummy. in any case, Aunt Annie ever said it was my female parent that drove him to soak up. They neer mentioned to me what genuinely occurred. in any case, she left not long after and left me with Aunt Annie. she just needed a simple clasp. [ â⬠¦ ] I donââ¬â¢t consideration now. in the event that she is as yet alive. I donââ¬â¢t need to run into her. Iââ¬â¢ve got no association. [ â⬠¦ ] So I was raised by Aunt Annie and Uncle Dick with their young lady Mabel. Really. these examples of expire and neglecting have affected him profoundly. One can simple say that he is dreaded to be re-deserted and this is a ground why he doesnââ¬â¢t need to risk the alternative that Miranda wantonnesss him when she is sick. Thatââ¬â¢s why. Frederick decides to dismiss the clinical mediation. Without a doubt. he would be blamed and detained in the event that she would state individual about the grab. in any case, because of the way that he does non show any dread of being detained. all things considered, he is progressively alarmed of singularity. Presumably the two trepidations are someway associated. which is the reason Frederick will not flexibly Miranda with clinical guide. His inconsistent conduct unmistakably shows his psychopathologic individual attributes. Indeed. Frederick is holier-than-thou individual and snob. While taking a gander at others he encounters animosity in light of the fact that the way they convey. structure their everyday life and acknowledge him make non co-happen with his universe position. : Frederick is exorbitantly sluggish to make anything to change this situation. He keeps separation with his partners and disregards everything which is non remembered for his life. It tends to be seen from the primary page that Frederick is fairly irregular youthful chap who sees environing condition in negativeness. Because of the reality the he was raised in a little town sing the lack of solace. comprehension. also, openings. he got unfit to see genuine human sentiments like comprehension. what's more, relinquish. In the event that Frederick Clegg had been an existent figure. he would hold been determined to have the accompanying psychopathologic indications: Sex life indifferent. fiddling. what's more, not well coordinated: Frederickââ¬â¢s sexual associations with Miranda could hold been grown quicker and all the more productively if only he had non been so debilitated. He treated Miranda as an item and his total proprietorship holding administering conduct rather than holding equivalent connections individual with recognizable cultural purposes and requests. Lethargy when all is said in done relational dealingss Enthusiastic frigidity and lack of bias in inconsequential to his way of life occasions and impressions are regular to individuals with certain mental miracles because of the way that they are barely situated on one distinct individual/object/thought. Pathologic egocentricity and insufficiency for affection From the purpose of position of mental science and psychopathy the solitary one individual really and significantly venerated by Frederick is he himself. Having higher priority set of his ain activities. he in this way unfeignedly legitimized his entitlement to have premium quality connections. perspectives. what's more, life when all is said in done. Misguided thinking and inability to larn by experience Frederick is described by holding nonsensical idea and powerlessness to break down and in this way right his conduct. Insufficiently persuaded standoffish conduct Some clinical research laborers and examiners have applied the impression of strict. mental. what's more, cultural implosion in case with Frederick. Absence of contrition and disgrace Absence of distress. distress. or on the other hand humiliation rises up out of his whole confirmation in the sufficiency of his activities. thoughts. furthermore, purposes. Undependability Inability to set up solid associations with mentally equivalent individuals results in his powerlessness to delineate a trustworthy person. Nonappearance of unsteadiness or psychoneurotic indications Frederickââ¬â¢s case is not quite the same as some other mental surprise, for example, mental cases. forceful sexual conduct. and so forth ( Mossen 44 ) . Clegg has these psychopathologic character attributes since he thinks little about others. A figure of clinical experts guarantee that Frederick Clegg ought to be viewed as maniac rather than sociopath. The contrast between these two impressions is reflected in the way that sociopathy creates from negative sociological components like low cultural position. financial non-fulfillment. furthermore, illicit condition. while psychological instability is ingenerate illness being supported by impulsivity. high/low insight. furthermore, inability to acknowledge cultural standards and all things considered set up social guidelines. He is so childish he canââ¬â¢t acknowledge any dismissals which can be comprehended from his mentality towards Miranda. The expression ââ¬Ëshe was mineââ¬â¢ clarifies all that he felt for Miranda whom he treats only like one of his butterflies that must be taken consideration of. After he catches the miss he is overpowered by the brain bowing inclination for having what he has valued such a long clasp. . Frederick might be genuinely and explicitly depicted as holding whole insufficiency of sexual alluring power. ââ¬Ë An announcement made by Frederick directly after Mirandaââ¬â¢s perish clarifies a lot of himself in footings of his intellectually undesirable character: ââ¬Å"I thought I was moving generally advantageous and inside rightsâ⬠. Most importantly. Frederick didnââ¬â¢t have great purposes. Despite the fact that Frederick did non see Mirandaââ¬â¢s illness to be valid for the principal team of yearss. what's more, significantly after it had all the earmarks of being such he didnââ¬â¢t begin searching for help. This demonstrates he was immobile inside his privileges. Other than. the reality of nobbling itself is a long way from being human and can non be supported. This announcement exhibits the outright egocentricity and savagery of Frederick. It would other than be proper to see that he was over and again taking care of Miranda as his invitee. It is the grounds of unfortunate Frederickââ¬â¢s character as Miranda is compelled to pass cut at his topographic point rather than chipping in sing him. These things. each piece great as various others add to a fresh crowd reaction that causes the subject of the account to turn out to be progressively evident. ( Holland 97 ) . Mockery may other than be seen in the issue of opportunity partner Frederick and Miranda ââ¬Å"relationshipsâ⬠. Indeed. Miranda is kept bolted. by and by. it does non mean that she is restricted in her mind and mind. Frederickââ¬â¢s head degree is truly constrained. he is near anybody elseââ¬â¢s considerations which can be seen from his powerlessness to recognize and comprehend Mirandaââ¬â¢s appealing power to craftsmanship. One increasingly significant treatment going on in the story was the discussion about the book ââ¬ËThe barrier in the rye. ââ¬Ë Frederick neglects to comprehend the centrality as he sees it as a muss and doesnââ¬â¢t like the way the main character exchanges in it. It set a realistic appear differently in relation to Miranda and represents to what degree she is free paying little mind to the reality of her detainment. She is anxious to larn everything new that encompasses her. She is a receptive woman and her achievement to profoundly decipher othersââ¬â¢ thought and emotions depend on her ain idea and investigation. ( Nicklette 87 ) . Frederick is a character with little perception of what love and human connections are. Thatââ¬â¢s why he does non cognize what he genuinely needs from associations with the miss. What he makes progress toward is clarity. greatness and exceptionality: ââ¬Å"I ever thought of her like that. I mean words like tricky and irregular. what's more, truly refined â⬠non like the different 1s. indeed, even the truly 1s. â⬠As shown previously. it is healthy and immaculate love that Frederick takes a stab at. He dismisses females who have had dynamic sexual life and is ever nauseated by them. His ââ¬Å"perfect matchâ⬠is ââ¬Å"pureâ⬠simply as he views himself as. Here he uncovers what in dysfunctional behavior is called self important feeling of faultlessness. ( Mossen 1995 ) . He picks a cocotte. what's more, clarifies his sexual failure by expressing that the female was non good with his whimsical grown-up female: ââ¬Å"I was unnecessarily apprehensive. I attempted to be as though I thoroughly understood it and of class she saw. she was old and she was appalling. frightful. I mean. both in the foul way she carried on and in articulations. She was worn. commonâ⬠. This announcement does non only show Frederickââ¬â¢s thought of what existent grown-up females ought to resemble. in any case, it other than opens his low affirmation. All through the story. the crowd can encounter Fredericksââ¬â¢s lower status composite and with the outline of what Frederick considers Mirandaââ¬â¢s environing condition: ââ¬Å"The just occasions I didnââ¬â¢t have pleasant dreams about her being the point at which I saw her with a specific youthful grown-up male. a boisterous uproarious state funded school type who had an athleticss carâ⬠. Greene, Nathanael
Greene, Nathanael Greene, Nathanael, 1742â"86, American Revolutionary general, b. Potowomut (now Warwick), R.I. An iron founder, he became active in colonial politics and served (1770â"72, 1775) in the Rhode Island assembly. At the beginning of the American Revolution he commanded a detachment of militia at the siege of Boston and was in charge of the city after the British evacuation (1776). Greene helped plan the defense of New York (1776), but illness kept him from the battle of Long Island. He was with Washington (1776â"77) at Trenton, Brandywine, Germantown , and Valley Forge. In Feb., 1778, he became quartermaster general while still holding his field command; he reorganized the department, found supplies for the army, and rendered fine service in this capacity. His notable ability at organization also appeared in his fieldwork. He fought (1778) at Monmouth and in the Rhode Island campaign and was president (1780) of the court-martial board that sentenced Major John André. After Gates was defeated at Camden (1780), Greene became the commander in the Carolina campaign . He reorganized the Southern army, and he and his lieutenants (notably Daniel Morgan and Henry Lee ), with aid of partisan bands under Francis Marion , Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens , turned the tide in Carolina. Greene's forces were defeated at Guilford Courthouse, Hobkirks Hill, and Eutaw Springs, but each time the British victory was reversed, and he pushed south to surround Charleston until the British evacuated it (1782). The campaign is generally considered an example of excellent strategy, and Greene's generalship is much admired. To get supplies for the Continental Army, Greene often had been forced to endorse personal notes. After the war the dishonesty of a contractor forced him to sell his estates to honor those pledges. The people of Georgia, however, gave him a plantation. See biographies by his grandson, G. W. Greene (3 vol., 1867â"71), and T. G. Thayer (1960); W. The answers are variable; embarrassment, disappointments or even anger. Different people will observe the situation with many different perspectives; in general, they are usually pessimistic. We feel this way most of the time because we were taught that success belongs to the winner, which explains why it sucks so badly to fail at something. But in the end, failures are not as bad as they seem. I remember the time I learned to bike. Failing was acceptable; indeed, it makes me a better biker. After being asked, I remembered being baffled by such a simple term, and how my mind was completely dominated by the fact that I did not know the answer. Swot Analysis Of Netflix - 954 Words
Netflix was founded in 1997 on a platform that offered video rental by mail. Reed Hastings, the CEO, co-founded Netflix when he decided that he was sick of paying late fees from Blockbuster. Being a subscriber of Netflix at this time meant that you were able to order a video with one day delivery with no hassles of late fees. In 2007, Netflix expanded by providing online streaming of media such as TV shows and movies, while still providing their DVD by mail services which was what they were originally founded on. This broadened their customer base by providing to those who rather not wait a day for a DVD and just stream media over the internet. In 1997, a Netflix subscription consisted of a by mail video delivery service for a flatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦On average a customer loses 200 plus films they have rated when they use an alternate media provider such as Blockbuster or Walmart. Following that year, Blockbuster and Walmart launched similar platforms to Netflix, making Netflixââ¬â¢sââ¬â¢ churn rate fall. However, big name competitors such as those did not pose a substantial threat to Netflix given that their value proposition had been growing stronger and stronger over time. One large advantage that Netflix had was they were always the first to offer new media and new deliveries. Porterââ¬â¢s Five Forces Model suggests that there are five important forces that determine the competitive power in a business situation. These five forces include; supplier power, buyer power, competitive rivalry, threat of substitution, and threat of new entry. Netflixââ¬â¢s suppliers are primarily producing agencies and studios that direct and shoot the films and shows Netflix offers to their customers. Netflix needs to buy the rights to theses TV shows and Movies in order to offer them to their customers. This gives big name movies and shows relatively high bargaining power. Netflix has tried to counter this by producing shows and movies on their own, these are known as ââ¬Å"Netflix Originalsâ⬠. Romeo says,à ââ¬Å"If I profane with my unworthiest hand / This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this: / My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand / To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss. â⬠(1. 5. 92-95) The statement shows proof of how at first encounter, Romeo decides to ask Juliet for a kiss, even without knowing each other. This is an evidence of immaturity. Also the two, decides to ignore the advice given from Friar Lawrence, and which they have ended up paying the ultimate price. They also ignore the most obvious of which their relationship is not going to be well, with their family conflict. The main flaw of the Romeo and Juliet is that they are both blinded with love, making them stubborn and immature. The series of events were influenced by the flaw of the two characters, making them ending up in tragedy. Not only could that tragic flaw be observed in classic stories, but also in modern literature. An example of modern literature would be, Looking for Alaska by John Green. The story is about the life of Miles Halter after he moved to the Culver Creek School. He then narrates of the experience of being with his friends, telling the tragic ending of Alaska Young. Alaska Young was no ordinary school girl, she is the girl who pulls out pranks on everyone and which does all the bad things she is able to do. Once while the group of friends were off smoking, Alaska has stated that,â⬠You guys smoke because itââ¬â¢s fun, but I smoke to die. â⬠This introduces the first flaw of the character. She does not love or care about herself, therefore she will make choices which are bad for herself. Later on, it was then told that Alaska Young has a sad past. In her childhood, she has experienced the death of her mother, and which she was blamed by her father of killing her mother. That has created a scar in Alaska, and which she kept on blaming herself on everything that went wrong and that she was failing everyone. She was then found, dead in a car crash attempting to suicide; blaming herself on forgetting her motherââ¬â¢s anniversary. These were the tragic flaw of the character and which it all started by being mistreated in her childhood. The flaw has taken over the character and influenced her daily act. By not being conscious about what is the best choice for the people around and themselves, they would end up with a problem. By not solving the problem properly, other problem will appear. This will continue, until it has reached its worst such as death or the right decision is made. In conclusion, tragedy always ends up with the downfall of the character, which is caused by their tragic flaw. It could be seen through the examples of Romeo and Juliet, and the downfall of Alaska, in Looking for Alaska, that it all started from people around them. Families and friends are most influential on what they will grow up to be like. It is where their future and their fate are decided. By being mistreated or taught to behave badly towards others, it can cause a flaw. The flaw will be hidden in the person, until the time when the person is at a traumatic or panicking state. Each person has a different flaw, and which they may result on developing more than one flaw. As explained, these flaws will influence each person to make a wrong choice. As once stated by Mahatma Ghandi, ââ¬Å"Nobody can hurt me without my permission. â⬠Referring that no one can hurt you, unless you hurt yourself. The quote supports the flaw of the character that it is their own fault that lead to their downfall. In order to reduce the risks of the impact of the flaw of each person, it is important that they are conscious about the decision they are making. This could make the person to be able to think and choose the better choice for themselves and the people around them. Works Cited Green, John. Looking for Alaska: A Novel. Understand The Soft Drink Market Comprising Of The Students Studying
Question: Discuss about the Understand The Soft Drink Market Comprising Of The Students Studying At The USC. Answer: Introduction The objective of the given task is to understand the soft drink market comprising of the students studying at the USC. In order to facilitate the same , a survey was conducted so as to collect the data about the consumption demand of various beverages along with their respective beverage preferences and impact of price on the same. From the representative population data collected through the survey, a sample of 80 students was obtained from the original survey results through the use of random sampling. This was executed through the usage of random sampling. From the sample data obtained, various inferential and descriptive statistics techniques have been applied in order to provide answers to the various question. These have been highlighted in the following section while the relevant computations are shown in the attached excel sheer. Data Analysis Based on the sample data and the corresponding computations performed in excel, the following analysis may be carried out. Out of the given 80 students which form the sample, 72 are domestic students while the remaining 8 are international students. This implies that the proportion of domestic students in the sample is 90% while that of international students is 10% only. It is observed from the sample data that as the price of the beverage tends to increase, the corresponding consumption tends to shrink. This implies that there is an inverse relationship between the price and beverage quantity consumed by the students. The following scatter plot also highlights the same. This is in line with the law of demand and makes sense considering the fact that these are not necessary items and can be curtailed especially when the price rises. Also, the relation seems to be quite linear as is apparent from the above plot. Based on the sample data, it is apparent that the other category is the most popular considering that 33 out of 80 students have chosen the same as their most popular beverage. The least popular beverage amongst the students based on the given sample seems to be energy drinks considering that it has been voted as the least popular by 44 students out of the given 80 students. The summary of preferences obtained from sample is highlighted below. In order to check the loyalty of the students to their preferred beverage, it is imperative to analyse the proportion of students who tend to make a switch when discounts are offered to them in favour of the second preference. It is apparent from the sample data that when 25% discount is offered on the second preferred drink, then only 21.25% of the sample tends to a make a shift. However, when the discount is increased to 40%, then this value tends to increase to 55%. Therefore, it is apparent that the students tend to be not very loyal to the preferred beverage and if given reasonably high discount (40%) majority of them are willing to make a shift. Based on the given sample data, it would be fair to conclude that it seems that the domestic students are more sensitive to price in comparison with international students. The scatter plot for the beverage price quantity relationship for the international students is as highlighted below. It is apparent that the above scatter plot does show an inverse relationship but the correlation coefficient seems to be lower. The combined scatterplot tends to reflect on a more linear and uniform trend thus highlighting that the domestic students tend to have a more strong and linear relationship with regards to price and beverage quantity. The respective summary table of the preferences of the local students is outlined below. It is apparent from the above table that that the most popular beverage amongst the domestic students tends to be other with 31 out of 72 students subscribing to the same preference. With regards to the least popular drink, it is energy drinks for the domestic students with agreement of 39 students out of 72 domestic students. The summary table of the preferences of the international students is outlined below. Unlike domestic students, the most popular drink for international students is tea/coffee with 4 out of 8 students subscribing to the same preference. With regards to the least popular drink, the international students share the same view as the domestic students as the least preferred beverage. Using the given sample, the estimate has been made for the population. According to the same, there is a 95% probability that the proportion of students preferring soft drinks would lie between 7.18% and 22.82%. Summary Based on the above data analysis, various conclusions can be drawn. The university has a small proportion of international students with a high majority of students being domestic. Further, in terms of beverage consumption, an inverse relation tends to exist with price. Also, this relation tends to be less pronounced for international students as compared to domestic students. Additionally, with regards to preferences of beverage, on a combined basis, the others category is the most popular with energy drinks being the least popular. However, there are differences observed between the preference of domestic and international students as international students tend to have their most popular drink as tea/coffee. Moreover, the students in general tend to be not very loyal as at 40% discount, more than 50% students tend to make a switch from the most preferred beverage. Also, the popularity of soft drinks amongst the students seems to be low as is apparent from the population estimate d rawn from the given sample.
