Swot Analysis Of Netflix - 954 Words

Netflix was founded in 1997 on a platform that offered video rental by mail. Reed Hastings, the CEO, co-founded Netflix when he decided that he was sick of paying late fees from Blockbuster. Being a subscriber of Netflix at this time meant that you were able to order a video with one day delivery with no hassles of late fees. In 2007, Netflix expanded by providing online streaming of media such as TV shows and movies, while still providing their DVD by mail services which was what they were originally founded on. This broadened their customer base by providing to those who rather not wait a day for a DVD and just stream media over the internet. In 1997, a Netflix subscription consisted of a by mail video delivery service for a flat†¦show more content†¦On average a customer loses 200 plus films they have rated when they use an alternate media provider such as Blockbuster or Walmart. Following that year, Blockbuster and Walmart launched similar platforms to Netflix, making Netflix’s’ churn rate fall. However, big name competitors such as those did not pose a substantial threat to Netflix given that their value proposition had been growing stronger and stronger over time. One large advantage that Netflix had was they were always the first to offer new media and new deliveries. Porter’s Five Forces Model suggests that there are five important forces that determine the competitive power in a business situation. These five forces include; supplier power, buyer power, competitive rivalry, threat of substitution, and threat of new entry. Netflix’s suppliers are primarily producing agencies and studios that direct and shoot the films and shows Netflix offers to their customers. Netflix needs to buy the rights to theses TV shows and Movies in order to offer them to their customers. This gives big name movies and shows relatively high bargaining power. Netflix has tried to counter this by producing shows and movies on their own, these are known as â€Å"Netflix Originals†. Some of these original series are very successful such as â€Å"House of Cards† and â€Å"Orange is the New Black†. Tragic Flaw Free Essays

and The Flaw By Phanit Asavanamaung 10B Stories are told in many styles, through different medias; all which are to entertain or educate its audience. Christopher Booker, the author of the book ‘The Seven Basic Plots’, introduces the idea of the seven basics categories of any story told. The seven basic archetypes are Over Coming the Monster, Rags to Riches, The Quest, Voyage and Return, Comedy, Rebirth and Tragedy. We will write a custom essay sample on Tragic Flaw or any similar topic only for you Order Now Tragedy as one of the seven archetypes, are found in any type of stories; from the most recent published novel to the almost forgotten ancient myths of the earth. Tragedy is mostly used to describe when there is a death in the story, but which the term ‘tragedy’ can also be used to describe when the character has fallen into a lower state. It is better defined when there is a downfall of the main character in the story. In all the stories which are categorized under tragedy, has one thing in common. It is that those characters have a tragic flaw; that influences the character to their downfall. The tragic flaw for each character is different. It is influenced by many factors, such as family and the environment they are exposed to. These influences lead to the death of the eternal love of Romeo and Juliet, or even the life of a school girl, Alaska; in Looking for Alaska. The tragic flaw of a character is influenced by many factors, leading to the character’s downfall. The tragic flaw could be observed when there is a decision to be made, and the wrong choice is taken. The decision took, is influenced by the characters experience and also the condition that they are in. The experience of the character is from their past, about their families and their environment. This could result a tragic flaw to the character by making a scar to the character mentally. If the character was poorly treated in their childhood, or have experienced a traumatic event; this could cause a flaw in the character. At times, when the condition of the character is at its worst, the tragic flaw will influence the character’s decision, and which will eventually lead to the downfall of themselves. There are many type of tragic flaws and which a character may develop more than one flaw. By having more flaws, the character will be likely to be influenced by more events, which will make the character to become more vulnerable, in the tragic state. These flaws could be found since the early myth of Jason, on a quest to find the Golden Fleece, which it also ended up in tragedy. The flaws that are most common are from being treated badly as a child or from being blinded with love. Romeo and Juliet, the famous story of the two ‘star crossed lovers’ of the rivalry between the two families, ending up in tragedy. The reason behind the downfall of the couple is not from the conflict between their families, but it is actually their flaw. According to Chrisxbales papers, it describes the relationship of the two as, ‘are not in love, but in lust’. There are many flaws between the two characters, combination of immaturity and stubbornness. It could be observed that the two characters rushes into things, such as the first encounter of the two. Romeo says,  Ã¢â‚¬Å"If I profane with my unworthiest hand / This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this: / My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand / To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss. † (1. 5. 92-95) The statement shows proof of how at first encounter, Romeo decides to ask Juliet for a kiss, even without knowing each other. This is an evidence of immaturity. Also the two, decides to ignore the advice given from Friar Lawrence, and which they have ended up paying the ultimate price. They also ignore the most obvious of which their relationship is not going to be well, with their family conflict. The main flaw of the Romeo and Juliet is that they are both blinded with love, making them stubborn and immature. The series of events were influenced by the flaw of the two characters, making them ending up in tragedy. Not only could that tragic flaw be observed in classic stories, but also in modern literature. An example of modern literature would be, Looking for Alaska by John Green. The story is about the life of Miles Halter after he moved to the Culver Creek School. He then narrates of the experience of being with his friends, telling the tragic ending of Alaska Young. Alaska Young was no ordinary school girl, she is the girl who pulls out pranks on everyone and which does all the bad things she is able to do. Once while the group of friends were off smoking, Alaska has stated that,† You guys smoke because it’s fun, but I smoke to die. † This introduces the first flaw of the character. She does not love or care about herself, therefore she will make choices which are bad for herself. Later on, it was then told that Alaska Young has a sad past. In her childhood, she has experienced the death of her mother, and which she was blamed by her father of killing her mother. That has created a scar in Alaska, and which she kept on blaming herself on everything that went wrong and that she was failing everyone. She was then found, dead in a car crash attempting to suicide; blaming herself on forgetting her mother’s anniversary. These were the tragic flaw of the character and which it all started by being mistreated in her childhood. The flaw has taken over the character and influenced her daily act. By not being conscious about what is the best choice for the people around and themselves, they would end up with a problem. By not solving the problem properly, other problem will appear. This will continue, until it has reached its worst such as death or the right decision is made. In conclusion, tragedy always ends up with the downfall of the character, which is caused by their tragic flaw. It could be seen through the examples of Romeo and Juliet, and the downfall of Alaska, in Looking for Alaska, that it all started from people around them. Families and friends are most influential on what they will grow up to be like. It is where their future and their fate are decided. By being mistreated or taught to behave badly towards others, it can cause a flaw. The flaw will be hidden in the person, until the time when the person is at a traumatic or panicking state. Each person has a different flaw, and which they may result on developing more than one flaw. As explained, these flaws will influence each person to make a wrong choice. As once stated by Mahatma Ghandi, â€Å"Nobody can hurt me without my permission. † Referring that no one can hurt you, unless you hurt yourself. The quote supports the flaw of the character that it is their own fault that lead to their downfall. In order to reduce the risks of the impact of the flaw of each person, it is important that they are conscious about the decision they are making. This could make the person to be able to think and choose the better choice for themselves and the people around them. Works Cited Green, John. Looking for Alaska: A Novel. Understand The Soft Drink Market Comprising Of The Students Studying

Question: Discuss about the Understand The Soft Drink Market Comprising Of The Students Studying At The USC. Answer: Introduction The objective of the given task is to understand the soft drink market comprising of the students studying at the USC. In order to facilitate the same , a survey was conducted so as to collect the data about the consumption demand of various beverages along with their respective beverage preferences and impact of price on the same. From the representative population data collected through the survey, a sample of 80 students was obtained from the original survey results through the use of random sampling. This was executed through the usage of random sampling. From the sample data obtained, various inferential and descriptive statistics techniques have been applied in order to provide answers to the various question. These have been highlighted in the following section while the relevant computations are shown in the attached excel sheer. Data Analysis Based on the sample data and the corresponding computations performed in excel, the following analysis may be carried out. Out of the given 80 students which form the sample, 72 are domestic students while the remaining 8 are international students. This implies that the proportion of domestic students in the sample is 90% while that of international students is 10% only. It is observed from the sample data that as the price of the beverage tends to increase, the corresponding consumption tends to shrink. This implies that there is an inverse relationship between the price and beverage quantity consumed by the students. The following scatter plot also highlights the same. This is in line with the law of demand and makes sense considering the fact that these are not necessary items and can be curtailed especially when the price rises. Also, the relation seems to be quite linear as is apparent from the above plot. Based on the sample data, it is apparent that the other category is the most popular considering that 33 out of 80 students have chosen the same as their most popular beverage. The least popular beverage amongst the students based on the given sample seems to be energy drinks considering that it has been voted as the least popular by 44 students out of the given 80 students. The summary of preferences obtained from sample is highlighted below. In order to check the loyalty of the students to their preferred beverage, it is imperative to analyse the proportion of students who tend to make a switch when discounts are offered to them in favour of the second preference. It is apparent from the sample data that when 25% discount is offered on the second preferred drink, then only 21.25% of the sample tends to a make a shift. However, when the discount is increased to 40%, then this value tends to increase to 55%. Therefore, it is apparent that the students tend to be not very loyal to the preferred beverage and if given reasonably high discount (40%) majority of them are willing to make a shift. Based on the given sample data, it would be fair to conclude that it seems that the domestic students are more sensitive to price in comparison with international students. The scatter plot for the beverage price quantity relationship for the international students is as highlighted below. It is apparent that the above scatter plot does show an inverse relationship but the correlation coefficient seems to be lower. The combined scatterplot tends to reflect on a more linear and uniform trend thus highlighting that the domestic students tend to have a more strong and linear relationship with regards to price and beverage quantity. The respective summary table of the preferences of the local students is outlined below. It is apparent from the above table that that the most popular beverage amongst the domestic students tends to be other with 31 out of 72 students subscribing to the same preference. With regards to the least popular drink, it is energy drinks for the domestic students with agreement of 39 students out of 72 domestic students. The summary table of the preferences of the international students is outlined below. Unlike domestic students, the most popular drink for international students is tea/coffee with 4 out of 8 students subscribing to the same preference. With regards to the least popular drink, the international students share the same view as the domestic students as the least preferred beverage. Using the given sample, the estimate has been made for the population. According to the same, there is a 95% probability that the proportion of students preferring soft drinks would lie between 7.18% and 22.82%. Summary Based on the above data analysis, various conclusions can be drawn. The university has a small proportion of international students with a high majority of students being domestic. Further, in terms of beverage consumption, an inverse relation tends to exist with price. Also, this relation tends to be less pronounced for international students as compared to domestic students. Additionally, with regards to preferences of beverage, on a combined basis, the others category is the most popular with energy drinks being the least popular. However, there are differences observed between the preference of domestic and international students as international students tend to have their most popular drink as tea/coffee. Moreover, the students in general tend to be not very loyal as at 40% discount, more than 50% students tend to make a switch from the most preferred beverage. Also, the popularity of soft drinks amongst the students seems to be low as is apparent from the population estimate d rawn from the given sample.

In the present twenty-four hours scenario, the planetary market tendency sights that the endurance of the fittest companies are viing with each other and the quality and service that these companies provide are the cardinal construct for any companies growing. My research is focused much towards the support and service that is provided after busying the hotel room and for any organisation it would be a basic foundation construct to fulfill their clients and understand the demand of their clients. The globalisation of the industry has advanced under the influence of the progresss in engineering, transit and communicating, deregulating and riddance of political barriers every bit good as booming competition in the planetary economic system ( Clarke and Chen, International Hospitality Management, w. 2007 ) . The hotel as a whole is fundamentally a mix of five features: its location, its mix of installations, its image, the services that it provides and the monetary value it charges ( Holloway and Neil Taylor, 2006, Pg. 2003 ) . As said by Amadeus, the planetary hotel industry is driven by globalisation, new Technology and a new strain of clients . The cordial reception industry, which has been with alone chance, is undergoing a period of extraordinary transmutation. A study accredited by the Amadeus group to larn about the hotel industry, recommended that the cordial reception industry stand to confront major troubles from the emerging new engineerings such as engagements through tele or nomadic phones and from the on-line societal networking sites. Guests can now easy exchange positions about what they think of the hotels through societal networking. Quality is now given more precedence than earlier. In add-on, there has been an addition in the use of engineering as a manner of doing on-line reserves through several distribution channels. These channels can be interpreted as an organized and serviced system that is paid for, out of the selling budget and is used to supply an entree to the clients, who are off from the location of production and ingestion ( Middleton and Clark, Selling in Travel and Tourism, 2001 ) . Normally in India, clients would do a reserve by either straight nearing the hotel or by booking through a travel agent. However, now the electronic distribution channels like the Global Distribution System ( GDS ) and the cyberspace have been steadily deriving popularity. ( Dabas and Manakt. , Vol. 19 No. 5, 2007 ) . Because of the perishable nature of the stock lists, its really important for the hotel to hold an economical distribution. ( OConnor, Vol. 4. pg 1-15, 2002 ) . RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Every research methodological analysis includes a research design which may be defined as the set of conditions organized hypothetically for the aggregation and analysis of informations that aims to incorporate relevancy to the research procedure with economic system in process Research Problem: Understanding the development in cordial reception industry along with the current tendencies and, how the companies have been affected the demand for their consumers every bit good as their perceptual experience. Research Question: The altering tendencies of the Hospitality Industry in India Research Aims: 1. The public presentation of Hospitality industry in India. 2. How has the tendency transformed in the past few old ages. 3. Analyzing the demand and supply of adjustment and turning monetary values in different Indian cordial reception industry? 4. How has the perceptual experience about the restaurants/hotels and bars changed in the heads of consumers? 5. Who are the main participants in the Indian market every bit good as the 1s that have branched outside India? Approach: Since there is no relationship between the Hospitality Industry and the decision, the research would be to the full prelusive so that the decision, which is being analysed utilizing different methods of study and survey, would back up the research. Scheme: The scheme that will be followed for the research work will be Surveys. Surveys will be taken from either the Hotels or Resto-Bars in India and besides from the clients of different cordial reception sections. DATA COLLECTION My informations aggregation processes for this research would dwell of series of processs, which would be farther branched into primary and secondary informations aggregation. PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION The chief procedures that I would be trusting on while utilizing my primary informations aggregation would be through questionnaire based on the information, that will be done by personally run intoing the clients and by directing them stations and by run intoing the staff of the hotel in individual. The questionnaire I would be working on, would be divided in a manner that would be most efficient in managing them and by maintaining the clip factor into consideration, the most applicable system would be applied to the best suited group. While using a incorrect procedure in garnering information would ensue in detaining the whole operation. The research subject requires a Qualitative method to measure the findings aimed for. A well framed questionnaire will be given in individual. The appropriate tool for my research proposal would be a type of a study, because the best manner to obtain the needed informations, in order to happen replies for my research inquiries, would be inquiring a set of inquiries. Every methods of informations aggregation have its ain advantages every bit good as disadvantages. For illustration: Internet study: Survey done through electronic mails and file sharing. The advantages of Internet as a manner of study are: 1. Survey can be set up faster. 2. Survey consequences are faster. 3. Response can be administered by leting pre and station inquiries. 4. The skip-pattern inquiries can be used to extinguish interviewer mistake. 5. Respondent can reply at their ain convenience. 6. Cost of interview in minimum. Although, Internet study has many advantages, it might non be the most appropriate method of appraising for this thesis. The ground behind this is the namelessness of the web, which makes any type of avowal hard, if non impossible. Postal Questionnaire is yet another type of study which has the undermentioned advantages and disadvantages: Advantages Their costs are comparatively low. Datas can be obtained from big sample countries. Can avoid interview prejudice. Privacy scenes can be enhanced for the respondents. Rating graduated tables can be flexible. Disadvantages Poor response rates. Respondents may misinterpret inquiries. The intended individual may non be the 1 who completed questionnaire. The comparative nature of the inquiries to be posted is supposed to hold confidential information, has made me to make up ones mind that postal questionnaire might be the most appropriate signifier for roll uping information. The methods for informations aggregation scope from the simple usage of postal questionnaire to face-to-face interviews, where an interviewer uses tape recording equipment and note taking as their tools for roll uping information. Few of the methods are expensive but they certainly guarantee a good response rate, while others being inexpensive to administrate but are most likely to bring forth a hapless response ( Les Oakshott, 2001 ) SECONDARY DATA COLLECTION: The secondary informations are the type of informations that are made by others for their ain intents. The secondary information for my research proposal would be gathered from the companies own informations archives and from their one-year fiscal studies. In add-on, the findings of former research surveies on outsourcing an accounting procedure would give an ample sum of historical informations or decision-making forms. I would besides be utilizing Internet to acquire some more information about the industry and usage diaries for acquiring direction from the past researches on this subject. TOOLS FOR DATA ANALYSIS The informations collected from the questionnaire would be analyzed through the SPSS text analysis. Different manner of SPSS analysis will be used in analysing the information from the questionnaire. Research: NEW AND RELEVANT? Recently this subject has been quiet popular, with a roar in the cordial reception industry at that place have been a batch of research worker working on this subject in order to understand the demands and behavior of the people, so that they could propose stairss to better and assist turn the industry. The subject for this research is besides a hot topic as the touristry industry is besides connected with the cordial reception industry and the touristry industry has progressed alot.

I heard that it started when a bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich because he was hungry. Essays I heard that it started when a bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich because he was hungry. Paper I heard that it started when a bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich because he was hungry. Paper There are few historical debates that have aroused such controversy as that of the causes and origins of World War One. There is an abundance of sources, both reliable and not so, and the blame for the war has been thrown around and indeed at everybody involved. Unlike the Second World War, where Germany is generally accepted as being to blame, WW1 is steeped in disagreement even to this day. Unfortunately for the historian, the blame for the war simply depends on who you ask. Britain, Germany, France, Russia, even capitalism itself have strong arguments against them. A problem one faces when investigating the crisis is that each argument does have its strong points, and, if approached unwarily, each could be accepted as the main cause of the war.Perhaps it is not surprising, then, that Baldrick should become a little confused as to the state of affairs. It accepted that at the time of the war, many Tommies and indeed civilians were unclear as to the reasons for conflict. The obvious point Baldrick is referring to is the assassination of Franz Ferdinand in June of 1914. This short term cause was accepted by many at the time to be the main cause of the war, but I believe this is only because of the events proximity to war itself, and media hype (the British popular press becoming prominent in the late eighteen hundreds).I do not question the fact that the death of Ferdinand contributed to the start of the war, but I believe that war would have broken out if the assassination had not taken place. It was, we must remember, the state of international affairs which made Ferdinands death so significant in the first place. For example, the Black Hand, the organisation to which Gavro Princip, Ferdinands killer belonged, had been formed to aid the creation of a Greater Serbia. I think that this is evidence that international diplomacy, although perhaps not so dramatic (and accessible to the masses), played the key role in the start of war.I think that, as has been refle cted in the media coverage of war in Iraq, peoples ideas of the causes and justification of war are largely influenced by the popular press. As is the same now, different newspapers had different opinions on the war. The most prominent papers, such as The Daily Mail, promoted the idea of the evil hun, skewering babies on bayonets and suchlike, and the idea was generally accepted by the British public. I think it is the presss influence which is largely responsible for the public perception of war, but with the extremely useful tool known as hindsight, we can see the whole picture.Marxist historians state Imperial rivalry and capitalism as the underlying causes of war. I agree with the idea that Imperialism significantly contributed to the war. The fact that there was a fairly hefty rivalry between nations is clear from their aggressive actions overseas, with the major powers such as Britain and Germany scrabbling to obtain and retain significant areas around the globe. The Marxist t heory, however, goes on to say that the acquisition of new territory led capitalists to look for new markets abroad, which in turn encouraged governments to obtain more and more land, adding to the tensions between states. They claim that this ultimately led to war. I disagree with this theory, one, because the hostilities in Africa and Asia never truly threatened international war, and two, because I think that business heads at the time were keen to encourage amiable relations between states, with trading between nations truly coming into is own at this time. Fritz Fischer, a prominent German historian, claimed that all of the nations international diplomacy was ruled by domestic policy. I disagree with this statement. If we look at the political circumstances of the nations at the time, I think it is clear that the general public were not adequately empowered to influence diplomacy. For example, Germany, who had more voters than any other country, parliament had no actual power ov er the government. This meant that although public opinion was probably taken into consideration, it is unlikely that her actions were actually dictated by the masses. It is my opinion that the First World War was not caused by a single event. It may be fair to say that Ferdinands assassination sparked the war, but I find it incredulous to think that this one spark was the actual cause of a world war. I think that the reasons for war are numerous and interlinked; a patchwork quilt if you will of diplomacy and economy. The treaties and agreements at the time the Franco-Russian alliance of 1892 (although it was not made public until 1918), the triple entente, the German-Habsburg alliance of 1879, and the various trade treaties at the time all set the stage for war. So was war inevitable?I believe so, although I think that the circumstances of war could have been very different. I think that the rise of Germany itself thanks to Bismarck, and the amazing acceleration of production there , was bound to lead to competition with another state. The theory of Social Darwinism; that if you are not growing you are dying (originally invented by English philosopher Herbert Spencer), could be argued to be illustrated by the actions of Germany and Britain during the naval arms race. Their expansion, both militarily and territorially, I think is fair to say was only down to competition with each other; Britain had been a clear leader in Europe, and had no real need to expand other than to prevent a rival close to home. There is an idea that if Britain had made its stance clear during the July crisis in 1914 (we must remember that the triple entente was only an informal agreement, rather than a binding alliance), then Germany would not have gone to war with France. I think that this is plausible, as Germany would certainly have been reluctant to fight such a close rival, but I retain the belief that war would have taken place, if not that month, perhaps not in 1914, but at some point in the near future. So how close was Baldrick to the truth? It could be argued that he is right in saying the war started when Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, but I think it would be wrong to say it started because of his death. The tangled web of alliances in Europe at the time ensured that if one country went down, they all went down. Because of this I believe that if Princip had not shot Ferdinand and his wife, there would have been another incident to act as a catalyst to war.

Louis Paul Pojmans Argument Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Louis Paul Pojmans Argument - Essay Example Man is a social animal and it is difficult for him to lead an isolated life. We are connected to many entities in this world and therefore our actions may affect others also. For example, if a person committed a crime, the police will interrogate all his relatives and family members in order to collect evidence. In other words, the crime committed by a person may affect others as well. If one person kills another, the relatives of both the killer and the killed will be suffered along with the killer. The person who was killed may have a wife, parents, and children. The wife lost her husband whereas the children lost their father. The parents lost their son and the neighbors might have lost a good friend. Same way the killer may also have all the same entities and they also will suffer because of the killer’s criminal act. In other words, even if the criminal is a single entity, many other entities suffer because of the actions of the single entity. In short, even if we arrest the criminal and punish him, the persons who lost their beloved one may not get much in return. Under such circumstances, Pigman's arguments seem to be good on paper, but in practice, it is difficult to achieve. It is a fact that we deserve what we earn. But it is difficult to limit the earnings within ourselves because of the complex relationship within the human community. Human has emotions and feelings and it is difficult to lead an emotionless or feeling less life. We can argue that the hardworking fellows should be rewarded properly whereas criminals or culprits should be punished. But we cannot argue hardworking fellows always get rewards whereas the criminals always get punishments. At the time of writing this paper, world cup football is going on.   Â
